Are you feeling anxious ALL THE TIME?
… and looking to find some peace and calm in your life??
You’re the fixer, the doer, the one who gets things done… at work and in your relationships. And you’re utterly and completely exhausted!
You’re so capable and efficient, and you astound yourself! Everyone counts on you, and you’ve always been proud to be THAT person – the one everyone can rely on.
But over time, you’ve grown tired of running around like the Energizer Bunny! You don’t have the time or energy for yourself or the things you love… like working on that side gig or reading a good book. Hell, you barely have the energy to fully engage with the people who matter the most… like your partner or family!
You’d love to have a relationship that supports and nurtures you, but there’s no time for that. If you are partnered right now, you probably feel disconnected and alone.
The stress and anxiety are getting more and more intense. You may have even experienced symptoms of a panic attack. You’ve been stressed out before, but it’s never gotten this bad. Something’s gotta give. Individual or couples therapy might be helpful here.
Work-Life Balance While Living in NYC
There’s no place like New York City! It’s exciting and exhilarating… but always fast and furious… and often overwhelming. When friends ask how we’re doing, we automatically say, “Busy!” That seems to sum it up perfectly.
“Busy” and “working hard” seem like a good thing. You feel as though you are doing something important and valuable. You are important!
But you’re not feeling important… and it’s hard to see the point. You want to be valued for something other than being industrious, or productive, or efficient. YOU WANT TO VALUE YOURSELF for something other than being “busy” or “working 24/7.” For you, it’s a choice… not a necessity.
Finding your balance…
When you’re constantly feeling anxious and overwhelmed, it shows up in different parts of your life. It interferes with your work, your sleep, and your relationships.
You keep trying to make everyone happy, and it’s never enough.
Your partner doesn’t understand you and seems to be emotionally distancing, and you end up fighting and arguing. Even sex feels less enjoyable when your heart’s not in it.
You need support and concrete tools to use at work and home to find your calm… and to find the zing in your everyday life.
Creating a life of meaning…
This is possible only if you are really clear about your unique set of values… and can use them to identify your specific goals that are closely aligned with those values (not based on what anyone has ever told you they “should” be!).
This might mean holding onto some stuff passed on by your family and culture…
Or it might mean letting go of some ideals that no longer serve you. We’ll start there.
Let’s identify YOUR core values and goals, so you can be clear about what’s really important.
Distinguishing patterns that work from those that don’t…
Sometimes we get stuck in a rut doing things a certain way because we’ve always done that. This can look like playing a certain role in the family.
Maybe you were the “high-achieving kid” who made their parents proud…
… or the “responsible kid” who was always conscientious and rule-following.
Maybe you were the “social kid” who was always popular and in-demand…
… or the “peacemaker” who kept everyone happy when things got tense.
As an adult, these roles may no longer serve you, and you may want to develop new ways of responding to the situations you found yourself in as a young child. Your childhood does not have to be traumatic for you to have been affected by things that happened to you back then!
Making conscious choices…
When we understand why we do what we do, how those decisions affect us, and what we give up in return for those decisions, we tend to make more active decisions – choices that align with our values, goals, and life purpose.
We gain the ability to choose when to change our old patterns and create new ones that serve us better!
My role is to help you see this with greater clarity and give you feedback on your choices.
You’ll learn why you feel stuck at work…
You’ll learn why you feel adrift… as though nothing really matters.
You’ll learn how to move forward with your plans…
You’ll begin to find meaning again and move toward building a life you love.
Let’s find your calm and get your mojo back!
The idea of online therapy in NYC is often more daunting than the process. The sun, moon, and stars don’t have to coincide for you to start!
